Fun and dramatic Welcome to the Banks wedding, where someone has been murdered, and four different women confess to individually committing the murder.Lulu is swimming in ex husbands, and her current husband is up to no good.Emily is hitting the drink She wants to forget everything that s happened to her.Kate has money than she can handle, and she knows how to use it to her advantage.Ginger s family is falling apart, and this vacation is supposed to be an escape from it all but it s not.Why are they all confessing to murder How far would you go for friendship The wedding is a reunion for these college friends The story unfolds with snippets into the past, and the secrets it holds The wedding is set to take place at a beautiful spa.Pretty Guilty Women is a quick and consuming read The detectives interview each woman, and along the way you learn about their pasts I loved the characters There was something to like about each one The ending had a nice twist, and there was tons of drama throughout This reminded me a bit of a Moriarty book, and I loved that about it.Overall, Pretty Guilty Women is an indulgent and entertaining read, and the perfect way to wrap up summer I received a complimentary copy All opinions are my own. Many of my reviews can also be found on my blog www.jennifertarheelreader.com and instagram www.instagram.com tarheelreader

EXCERPT Ginger s shoulders stiffened with resistance at the horribleness of her voice This wasn t like her Ginger was fun and patient and exuberant She wasn t a nag, and importantly, she loved Frank She loved his silly hobbies and stupid projects His very zest for life was one of the reasons she d fallen head over heels for him in the first place But then life had happened, and kids, and finances, and insurance, and lost pink shoes And somewhere in the mess of suburbia and second jobs and the monotony of daily life, love just seemed so hard sometimes.ABOUT THIS BOOK Four Women Four Confessions One Murder.Something has gone terribly wrong at the Banks wedding A man is dead Four different women rush to offer confessions, each insisting that they committed the crime alone.Ginger is holding her family together by a thread, and this wedding weekend is not the fabulous getaway she anticipated.Kate has enough money to buy her way out of anything Well, almost anything.Emily can t shake her reputation or her memories, and she s planning to drown this whole vacation in a bottle.Lulu s got ex husbands to spare, and another on the way as soon as she figures out what the devil the current husband is up to behind her back. Why would they confess to the same murder Only they know and they re not telling This page turning novel explores the depths of friendship and the truths we love to ignore.MY THOUGHTS This was a fun read with a slightly darker side to it The women s relationships are complicated, but common resentment, envy, and holding onto old grudges has taken the place of their once close friendship But when the chips are down, will they let these petty feelings get in the way of having each others backs I enjoyed the way this book was written, in a light hearted vein while covering some pretty serious subjects including physical abuse and infertility Pretty Guilty women made me think, and smile I also liked the fact that we don t actually who was killed until almost the end of the book Did Lulu kill Pierce in a fit of jealousy Did Ginger kill Frank in sheer frustration Did Kate kill Max for dumping her rather publicly Did Emily kill Henry while she was drunk All these quetions were rattling around my brain as I read.We get segments of the women s stories, interspersed with police interviews this is definitely NOT a police procedural these guys couldn t find their way out of a paper bag.My favorite quote If Lulu didn t believe in romance, she wouldn t have gotten married five times Love the cover .75 and I m still smilingTHE AUTHOR Originally from St Paul, Minnesota, Gina LaManna has also called Italy and Los Angeles home After studying numbers and equations in college, she realized multiple choice tests were just not for her and began writing books instead She loves cappuccino foam and whipped cream and would subsist solely on sprinkles if possible She currently lives in St Paul with her wonderful husband and family.DISCLOSURE Thank you to Sourcebooks, Landmark for providing a digital ARC of Pretty Guilty Women by Gina La Manna for review All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own personal opinions. For an explanation of my rating system please refer to my Goodreads.com profile page, or the about page on my webpage Sandysbookaday.wordpress.comThis review and others also appear on Twitter, and my webpage

Pretty Guilty Women by Gina LaManna is a book that was a quick read for me I really enjoyed the way that it was written from multiple points of view and with the police interviews between chapters as the story starts to unfold The characters themselves are not particularly likeable, all of them a bit self centred and spoilt I liked this book but I didn t love it The ending did not come as a complete surprise to me either, I guess I was just hoping for .4 women confess to the murder of a man during a rehearsal dinner for a friends wedding All of their stories are different and the police are confused why would 4 women all say they did it The women are all at the luxury spa resort for week long wedding celebration for their college friend They haven t seen each other for quite a while so it is a reunion for them all There are also the new friends that they make along the way As the story is told we hear about the past, their secrets and dramas and how they all tie in together. Thanks to Sourcebooks Landmark and Netgalley for my advanced copy of this book to read All opinions are my own and are in no way biased.

It is a wedding where four friends from school meet after a long time A man however dies and found women confess to the murder The start is interesting and the pace is good, keeping up the suspense well till the end Whitney is getting married While she, Kate, Ginger and Emily were friends, they have not really been in the best of relations since some time All of them have their problems Kate is increasingly desperate to have a child Ginger is a mother of three kids and struggles to manage them and Emily veers towards depression with nothing seeming to work since long for her in life All of them decide to attend Whitney s wedding after some hesitation hoping it will give them a chance to rekindle their relationships The story converges the past with the present very well, picking up from the time they were close and later drifted apart At the event, they also meet elderly Lulu who has some concerns of her own regarding her married life They run into Sidney at the marriage, who is caring for a young child And then this murder happens The overall storyline, buildup, convergence of the past present, and the pace is good The plot itself has some weak elements in it though Well worth a read especially for the layered buildup of the story.I received a free electronic copy for providing an honest review. My rating 3.5 5.

Four women old college friends are reunited at the elegant Banks wedding They haven t been in touch in ages and some hold grudges There s Ginger, a receptionist and weary mom of three Ginger s former college roommate, Emily, now a marketing manager She and Ginger no longer speak and Emily seems to be harboring a pile of secrets There s Kate, a beautiful and well off lawyer, whose boyfriend breaks up with her the day before the festivities They all knew the bride, Whitney, in college At the resort where the wedding is being held, Ginger, Emily, and Kate meet Lulu, a wealthy woman in her sixties Her husband is related to the groom Lulu may have wealth, but she s worried about her marriage By the end of the rehearsal dinner, a man will be dead Even intriguing, four people will confess to the deed.PRETTY GUILTY WOMEN was a really interesting and dramatic read I was caught up in these women s tales I have a group of close friends from college thankfully not estranged and also could relate to the harried mom, Ginger I was fascinated by all that was going on in everyone s lives a lot of drama There s a lot going on here a college feud, the wedding, a mysterious young mom, each woman s own issues, but LaManna makes it all work The book is told partially in police reports and then narrative from all the women It s certainly fascinating, as details unfold slowly, and it keeps you guessing Overall, this was a quick read and perfect to finish up on my beach trip I m looking forward to reading from LaManna I received a copy of this book from Sourcebooks and Bookreporter in return for an honest review Blog Twitter Facebook Instagram PaperBackSwap Smashbomb

When old college friends reunite after being estranged for years for one of their own s wedding, it should be a very joyous, happy occasion But that certainly was not in the cards A murder has been committed and it seems they have all confessed But it can only be one of them. These college friends who are now somewhat strangers to each other all believe the other s lives are perfect But all is not as it seems. The gathering includes Kate, who is fashion model beautiful, wealthy and does not have a care in the world, but unbeknownst to her friends is in the middle of a horrific mid life crisis.Emily is a preschool teacher who drinks a bit She had a falling out years ago with one of her college roommates which she has regretted for years She also regrets the secrets she has been keeping and how they have been eating away at her.Ginger is now a harried mother of three She and her husband whom she met in college barely make ends meet Her teenage daughter will be the death of her if her two younger children don t kill each other first. Then there is Lula an elderly woman they meet and befriend at the wedding who has been married a few times She thinks her latest husband is cheating on her and she will go to great lengths to figure out if this is true. So, back to the murderwhy would they each risk all they have to go to prison How did this situation get so out of control Who really committed the crime and why Some friendships, both old and new can be meaningful, dependable and supportive regardless of their length or their history But when push comes to shove these women will do anything and everything to protect each other This is the lesson they learned.Quite the page turner, Pretty Guilty Women is cleverly told via the detective s interrogation s of the women and then we have the women s back story chapters There is comic relief as well with of course a few shocking twists at the end.Thank you NetGalley SourcebooksLandmark PrettyGuiltyWomen GinaLamanna for the advanced copy It was terrific

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.Entertaining and sassy, though a slightly strange premise.I adored Big Little Lies, and this book immediately reminded me of that, so I simply HAD to request it For the most part, I was really engaged with it, though I have to say, the entire premise was a little bit bonkers, and fairly unbelievable to boot It s Whitney s wedding, and her old school friends who haven t seen each other in years are flying over to enjoy the day with her Kate is high flying and gorgeous, but longs for a child Ginger is a mum of three and completely exhausted As for Emily She s had a messed up past and ends up sleeping with a man she s only just met Throw elderly, sophisticated Lulu into the mix, and you ve got a strong cast of female leads As you might expect, the wedding goes terribly wrong and a man ends up dead The only problem is all four women confess to his murder Who really did it, and why I liked the pace and the style of this book It was smart, sassy and fun to read which in my opinion, makes it the ideal holiday read I found the characters fun and believable, and I definitely wanted to know about what was happening I especially liked Ginger s relationship with her teenage daughter that was quite thought provoking and poignant in places The overall idea, though fun, was a little bit nonsensical though I m fairly sure that the women would get arrested for perverting the law by all confessing yet this seems to be glossed over at the end Also, their reasoning for doing so, while honourable and very girl power , seemed slightly unbelievable I don t see how they could get away with it in a busy hotel environment But I ll say no , as I don t wish to give the ending away.If you re happy to suspend your disbelief I usually am then this is a fun, fast paced read Definitely a good one if you re looking for something light hearted and spirited.

Three stars A murder mystery plot that follows four women with messy lives The Banks wedding is supposed to be a lavish affair, it is being held at a high end resort with no expense spared The wedding is also a chance to reunite four old college friends Unfortunately, something goes terribly wrong the night before the wedding A man is murdered and four different women claim to be the one who killed him Why would these women all confess to the same crime What are they hiding What I Liked Pretty Guilty Women is a suspenseful, twisty mystery that centers around four very different women If you like lots of suspense, twists and a surprising mystery, this is one to try There is a cliffhanger at the end of every chapter I liked that the story followed four unique women Ginger is happily married with three children, but her life isn t exactly glamorous She struggles to make ends meet, and she can t seem to connect with her teenage daughter She is convinced that her other three friends have it all Kate is wallowing in money She has a prestigious career and success, but she can t get the one thing she wants a baby Things go from bad to worse when her boyfriend throws down and ultimatum Next there is Emily She is a unhappy, plagued by guilt She can t seem to get anything right Finally, there is Lulu She is a glamorous elderly lady who has lived an extraordinary life She has been married four times, but this time she really loves her husband, but she is worried he doesn t love her any As you can see all four women have their own set of problems It was interesting uncovering their secrets and learning what made them tick The layout of the story draws the reader in It opens with a startling scene Then it jumps to an investigator interviewing wedding guests about a murder The story moves back and forth in time In the present, there is an ongoing murder case Detectives are questioning witnesses, and everyone seems to have a juicy tidbit to share Meanwhile in the past, the reader gets to know the characters and the events that led up to the murder There are so many secrets and stunning revelations The author manages to keep you hooked as each chapter piles on startling clues, and the chapters conclude with a cliffhanger I enjoyed the way the story moved backward and forward The author did a great job throwing out tantalizing tidbits to keep the reader engaged The story builds and builds to a thrilling climax and a jaw dropping finale Trust me, you won t see it all coming Once the dust settles, there is an epilogue a year down the road that catches the reader up to speed and answers some final questions The author manages to play a couple of mind games with the reader during the final pages, making you question everything And The Not So Much I had trouble latching onto any of the characters All four women seemed selfish to me, and none of them were particularly likable It s hard to love a story when you don t care about the characters I wish that the women had pleasing characteristics Of course, with a story like this, there are moments that seem implausible I had a couple of issues with things stretching believability I couldn t figure out why Whitney, the bride, was nothing than a mention She doesn t show up in the story at all I thought that was strange The plot gets a little too busy and muddled with all the side stories and problems going on It get to be a little much Pretty Guilty Women is a book that will draw you in with it s interesting story method and starting revelations This book presents four unique women dealing with a quandary of problems, including a murder I was caught up in the suspense and the secrets However, the big thing that held this one back for me was that I couldn t connect with any of the characters as they are all rather selfish Still it was a book that kept me entertained throughout If you like messy, drama filled mysteries this is one to try I received a copy of this book from the publisher All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated for this review Posted Rainy Day Ramblings.

A man lies dead under a collapsed pergola on the grounds of the exquisite Serenity Spa Resort the site of the impending DeBleu Banks wedding Detective Ramone begins to question the witnesses and the story they tell becomes extremely complicated as four women all claim to have been the sole killer Reminiscent of BIG LITTLE LIES, this very entertaining novel is impossible to put down and begs to be read in a single sitting Told from the viewpoints of the main characters in alternating chapters and flipping backward and forward in time, the fascinating tale evolves as the reader gets to know each of the women and their hopes, dreams, wishes, desires, heartaches and secrets All have come to this wedding event for different reasons with the underlying theme being a reunion of old college friends and former roommates who had fallen out of touch Ginger, Kate and Emily meet strangers Lulu Franc and Sydney Banks and her baby Lydia in the hotel lobby the night they arrive and they get to know one another and reconnect in the bar over drinks I loved the characterization of each woman and I definitely liked the writing style and the way the narrative focused aspects of their individual personalities, worries, problems and issues It s full of drama and I actually could relate to them After all, what woman alive doesn t want to figure out how to have it all and usually falling short It was a fun, easy read and I really enjoyed it Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the e book ARC to read and review This would make a great movie or miniseries
